Title Proper : LC-PCC Best Practices Guidelines
Myth:
“When transcribing the title, you can generally do whatever
you wish regarding capitalization.”
Reality:
Not really. The
LC-PCC PS for the first alternative to 1.7.1 states “For capitalization of
transcribed elements, catalogers are encouraged (but not required) to follow
Appendix A.” It is permitted to ‘take
what you see’ on the resource. If you
choose the option of taking exactly what you see, do that for the entirety of
the element.
