How do you cutter a translation of a new collection of stories or poems by one author? How would you account for the collection title in the original language? Under the new guidelines in RDA, many compilations of poems, stories, etc. by one author that used to be cuttered and treated as separate works according to the old LCRI 25.10 because the collection had a “distinctive” title are now given a conventional collective title and cuttered as collections or selections according to CSM F633.  However, there isn’t an example in F633 which illustrates what to do with the original title proper of a translation of collected poems, stories, etc. if the original collection title was “distinctive”. In some cases, the collection in the original language wasn’t published long enough ago for it to have necessarily “become known” by that title (the original collection and translation may even be published in the same year). Following RDA example shows how RDA differs from AACR2 in regards to  books with text in both the original language and its translation(s) . This book has both the original work (in Sanskrit) and its English translation. Under AACR2, it would have been easier to see that there's a translation as there would have been a 240 of: 240 10 ‡a Pūyamēhavijñāna. ‡l English & Sanskrit Under RDA, there is no longer a 240 for this situation. QUESTION: What is  order of subfields k and l in preferred titles.  For example … $t Plays. $k Selections. $l Hindi. QUESTION: This is in regards to 2011352604, which contains both the original text in Sanskrit and the Hindi translation. In AACR2, we would have had a 240 of Kalyāṇakāraka. $l Hindi & Sanskrit. In RDA, we would not have a 240. Instead, in theory, we would give 2 700s (as in the Mail Carrier example from the class materials): 700 02 ‡a Ugrādityācārya, ‡d 8th/9th century. ‡t Kalyāṇakāraka. 700 02 ‡a Ugrādityācārya, ‡d 8th/9th century. ‡t Kalyāṇakāraka. ‡l Hindi. However, in this case, the 1st 700 would really result in the same N/T string as the 100/245 combo. So is it still required? ANSWER: Yes, two 700 name/title analytics.   In some cases the preferred title may be the same as the 245 title proper, but in many other cases it won't be.  We just thought it would always be easier to say "make the analytics" than to say "sometimes you do, and sometimes you don’t".  So it may be redundant in some cases.
