Myth:
“Recording the presence of illustrations is a core element,
and not a matter of judgment.”
Reality:
Not exactly. You are
required to record illustrations if the resource is intended for children. And it is usually a good idea to record their
presence, for other resources. But you
are permitted to exercise cataloger judgment, and may also ignore ‘minor’
illustrations (as you define ‘minor’).
